Rules

The whole game, in order. These are the rules the app grades with — the same ones shown inside a league on its results page.

The weekly entry

  • Every active member gets one entry per NFL regular-season week, and an entry is exactly 4 picks.
  • A pick is a team plus that team’s league spread for the week — one line per game, locked and published Wednesday at 7:00 AM ET.
  • The 4 picks do not have to come from 4 different games, and you may pick favorites, underdogs, or any mix of the two.
  • Both sides of the same game is allowed. It is called a Straddle, each side occupies one of your 4 slots, and both sides still have to cover.
  • The same team can never be selected twice in one entry.

The teaser

  • 14 points are added to the selected team’s spread, always in that team’s favor: teased spread = the Wednesday line + 14.
  • A −3 favorite becomes +11. A +4.5 underdog becomes +18.5. A pick’em is 0.0, so either side becomes +14.
  • The teaser is fixed. It is the same number on every pick, and it is not something a member chooses per pick.

How a leg is graded

  • Cover value = your team’s points − the opponent’s points + the teased spread.
  • Above zero covers and wins. Exactly zero is a push, and a push counts as a loss. Below zero loses.
  • The grade always uses the Wednesday line the pick was saved with, together with the official final score.

Winning the week

  • All 4 legs must cover for the entry to win. One loss — including a push — puts you in the loser group for that week.
  • A voided leg counts as neither a win nor a loss: the entry is graded on the legs that remain.
  • If every leg voids, the entry is no action and no points move for it.

How points move

  • The week has a winner group and a loser group, and the league’s juice is the amount that moves between them.
  • Each loser is charged −(number of winners × juice). Each winner is paid +(number of losers × juice).
  • With a juice of 10, fifteen winners and five losers: each loser is −150 and each winner is +50. The week sums to exactly zero.
  • If everybody wins, or everybody loses, there is no opposite group to pay or be paid and nobody’s total moves.
  • Points only. The app collects no entry fee, holds no balance, and pays nothing out — there is no money in it anywhere.

Timing and locking

  • Lines are published Wednesday at 7:00 AM ET; picking opens then. Later sportsbook movement does not change the league’s line.
  • The whole entry locks Sunday at 1:00 PM ET, and each pick also locks at its own game’s kickoff — whichever comes first.
  • Until then a pick can be added, changed or removed freely, as long as its game has not started. A game already under way is read-only.
  • All deadlines are enforced on server time. Times are shown in Eastern, and can be shown in your own time zone instead.

Empty slots at the deadline

  • At the Sunday deadline every empty slot is filled automatically, so every active member ends the week with a complete 4-pick entry.
  • It prefers the biggest remaining favorite from a game that has not kicked off, ties broken by the earlier kickoff and then alphabetically by team.
  • It never picks a team you already hold, and it may complete a Straddle by taking the other side of a game you are already on.
  • The rule is deterministic and the same for everybody, and an automatic pick is tagged so you can see which ones they were.

Who can see your picks

  • Your own picks are always visible to you, and editable while their games have not started.
  • Other members cannot see a pick until its game kicks off. Everything becomes visible at the Sunday 1:00 PM ET deadline, automatic picks included.
  • Once a week is graded, every member sees the same detail: the original line, the teased line, the final score and the arithmetic.

Standings

  • Your season total is the sum of your weekly ledger entries. Members are ranked highest first, and tied members share a rank.
  • There is no elimination. A bad week costs points; it never ends your season.
  • A league can start scoring later than Week 1. Weeks before that are practice: everyone picks, results are shown, nothing settles and no points move.

Exceptions and corrections

  • A game not completed within its scoring week is voided, and the entry is graded on its remaining legs.
  • If an official score is corrected later, the affected picks are re-graded, reversing ledger entries are written, and standings are recalculated.
  • Every commissioner correction is written to the league’s audit log with a reason.

Worked examples

Every outcome a single leg can have. Two of the four are teams that lost their game and covered anyway, which is what the teaser is buying.

These are the standard settings. A commissioner sets their own league’s juice, and a league’s real numbers are shown on its invitation and inside the app.
